This image I simply increased the contrast and added separate light and dark tones on the borders. I feel increasing the contrast has made the textures in the image show further. This helps the image focus less on the form and more on the colour, tone and texture. To improve I will overlay the image onto another to make the image more abstract.

I have edited this image by increasing the saturation, contrast and adding a border. I added the border to change the composition of the image, I also changed the contrast to make the subject stand out from the background. I felt like this made the lines in the image much clearer.

I feel like these images have been edited in a way that enhanced the patterns and lines in the piece, but I feel the images and effects are not what I wish to create so to move forward I will experiment with more effects and applications.

I had edited this image by first increasing the contrast of the image, so the black lines stood out further and thus making the pattern show further. Additionally, I've used an overlay that was in the app named "Scratches". This overlay had further contrasted the black against the background and also made the piece have a slight green tint. As well as this, the overlay added new, white marks onto the piece which I feel has given the image a much more chaotic, old and broken vibe. I feel the marks make the piece much less flat and creates a better composition. Finally, I cropped the image slightly so the composition is more balanced with no empty/unnecessary spaces.

In this image, I used a default style in the piece named "Silk". The stylize feature changes the texture of the piece, and I feel that this style in particular has made the photograph much more brush-like and gives the impression it was done on paper. Because of this, I feel as though the image looks less flat in terms of texture, but I feel it takes away the tone that made the photograph 3D in the first place. Because of this, to improve I will try more styles or change the contrast of the piece so there is more tone in the piece. Furthermore, I cropped the image so only the pattern was visible, removing all of the unnecessary space that was prevalent in the original photograph.

I feel that Pixlr has many effects and editing techniques that I find will be very useful to make my pieces much more interesting and effective. Therefore, I plan to use this application in the future.

I have edited this photo by using an effect in the application called "Edge - colour". This takes the more prominent lines in the piece and gives it a bright colour outline, to contrast against the black background it also gives the image. This effect makes the piece much more simplistic, but depending on the image it can give interesting marks, tone and patterns. For this piece in particular I believe it has an interesting but rough texture, which helps makes the piece more abstract compared to before. The lines also make the image a good base for overlaying on top of other images. However, to improve I could try the same image with different colours, or overlay with another image with different colours to create a more varied pattern.

This image I also used the "Edge" effect, but instead I also edited the contrast and levels in the piece. At first, the "edge" effect made the piece flat similar to the first image. Because of this, I changed the contrast so the blue lines stood out further in the piece, and changed the levels so there is a highlight at the side of the piece so it looks less flat. However, editing the image made the piece more blurry, so I feel in order to improve I would not use the "edge" effect or change the levels so the piece would not be blurry.

I feel that this application has many things to offer, however I will need to experiment further to

Photo Overlay

Originals and edited

In this application I overlayed 2 images on top of one another in order to create interesting compositions. I feel as though overlaying the images took away any empty space that the pieces had, and made the colours in each piece look as though they blended together when overlaying each piece on top of one another. Because of this, the pieces have many different colours and therefore, different colour connotations in order to create a more interesting and full composition.
In both images, I feel the first edited image is the best due to the piece still having some pattern while both images are overlayed compared to the second which I feel has lost its form and pattern after the green image was overlayed. Therefore, I feel to improve my overlaying technique I will ensure that both images have a form so the pattern that is on each image would not be lost when I overlay them on top of one another.
